• About Gruen: Founded in Ohio - Gruen was one of the largest American watch manufacturers for the greater part of the 20th century. In fact, shortly after their relocation to Cincinnati, Gruen became the number one selling watch brand in the US. Like many brands - their factory in Time Hill ceased production of wristwatches and produced contracted military watches for the US Military in WW2. After the war, the flood of Swiss import watches had a disastrous effect on Gruen, and the brand ultimately closed its doors in 1977. Today, their wonderful line of vintage watches such as the Airflight, and Curvex models are all that remains of this once great brand.

Ok, overall condition for its age. Running, but we dont know the last time it was serviced. This means, it can run unreliably, start or stop and timekeeping is not guaranteed. There is plating wear through, dents and scratches on the case. The crystal is cracked and has scratches on it. There are scratches on the dial. There is spotting on the dial. The crown is worn. It is missing the hour hand.
